Before
A large trampoline dominated the space, a, dilapidated old shed, a wood store to far from the house and an old used compost heap (in which we used for digging in the new borders) were not used by the clients and were at the far end of the garden. A new garden design would ensure this area of the garden was used.

A new garden design would ensure this area of the garden was used.
- The trampoline was sunk in the garden so it is usable but not dominating the space. This area can be used as a fire pit in the future when the children grow up. Although a few adults have tried it too!! The run down outhouses were removed and a new summer house was bespokely built to fit the space. Great care was taken to ensure we match the new with the old so it seams as though it was always there. A wood burner was installed in the summer house so as the temperature falls it becomes a cosy place to finish off the summers or even autumn evening. The teenagers even had a sleep over in the space.
- The new garden design entices you to different spaces and you can wonder around the different areas and enjoy the water feature, planting borders throughout the seasons, walk under pergola and relax in the summer house.
- Surveying in the winter. It takes a lot to stop us doing what we love.
- This area is very different to the rest of the garden. The same paving was used for continuity from one area to the other. A much lighter gravel was used with more tropical planting to give it an a very different feel from rest of the formal garden
- The water feature was designed around the statue and that was chosen by the client one the design had been decided. We wanted the feature to have a contemporary feel but still to fit in with the formal surroundings. It was designed to enable people to sit at the edge and enjoy the rest of the garden. Black bamboo, foxtail lily's, and poppies surround with area which is very a different planting scheme to the rest of the garden.
- The pergola was designed and built as a focal point for the view from the kitchen sink but also to link the formal area with the more relaxed area. Wisteria, roses, clematis and perennials peas are growing up the pillars
- A old leylandii hedge was taken out which left a view down the drive to the back. This yew hedge was brought and planting at 2M tall creating an instant screen that will out live us!
- The water feature was made by an artist and we made some alterations so the water would fall over the sides and give that lovely gurgling sound.
- The tramopline was sunk into the ground so it is not an obtrusive structure. The area can be made into a fire pit or decked area once the children have grown up. Although having it at ground level seems to have entice more adults onto it.
- Areas of this garden are elegantly planted with box hedge and cones in filled with Lavender. Allium's and tulips give seasonal variation. These areas are very low maintenance but give winter structure as well as plenty of colour in the spring and summer and the bees just love it.
- Some cottage garden plants were used in pinks, purples and whites. The succession of plants gives a long flowering season.
- Cleverly designed lighting gives the space a completely different atmosphere as the sun goes down. We can do lighting designs and are able to project manage the installation as part of the build.
